Dark Knight

I have seen this movie twice and am going to see it again because every time I go I can't get tickets to IMAX. The movie is really good. It is made differently from Batman Begins. The acting is amazing, but the more I see it my feelings change and to be honest I love Heath Ledger's performance, but I don't think he is going to win the best actor award. His performance is amazing but look at Aaron Eckhart's performance again and I suddenly realized his performance was amazing. We shall see what happens at the academy awards. IMDBs rating of this movie is a little high on the overall top 250 movies. Sitting on top of that list is not the position I would put that movie. After this movie I have to say if they create a two face movie I will be very upset because the ending of Dark Knight was done well. If they make a movie with two face then I will say they wasted 45 mins of my life creating the ending to Dark Knight. The action scenes were amazing, but the part that got me the most was the stupid motorcycle Batman rides. Everything about that bike is totally unbelievable, but then again it is just a movie. People say that the Joker lics his lips a lot, but I didn't notice that at all. The music score by Hans Zimmer is pretty good with the movie, but it is not a sound track to go buy. It is very boring. Movie scores are supposed to show emotion and help drive a scene and the music does, but the music just doesn't leave you humming a tune. The music stays in the background where it is supposed to do. The music is very boring to listen to by itself. I could say that this could be my least favorite music score by Hans.

Well lets see what happens in the next batman movie.

Waiting

Ok so it is official that I can't wait for winter. It is coming to the end of July and all I can think about is snowboarding. It sucks that Southern California doesn't start snowboarding season until around Thanksgiving. If we are lucky we get it before Thanksgiving and if we are not lucky we wait until December. I have the count down clock going already.

Weekend Trip

Well my family is into sailing and we recently just got a new boat. Well new for us, but it is old. Anyway we are going on a trip at the end of this month. We decided that we wanted to do the Newport to Ensenada Sailboat race. I am not sure if we will win, I actually highly doubt we will win. It is something to try and something to have fun doing. I just hope we don't run into any trouble heading down that way. This is how it will work. On Friday the 25th the race starts and we should hopefully make it to Ensenada on Saturday some time. Then we will sail back up to San Diego to pull our boat out of the water and trailer it back home. I am getting a little nervous just as that is going to be a crazy long trip. I will give more updates as we get closer.

Photos

Well I have started down a road leading to a very expensive hobby. I decided I want to take up photography. Let me tell you this, it takes some money to get into. Then you think that the money you pay to get a camera and a lens is not bad. Lately I have come to realize how much more expensive than I thought it was. I just started looking at lenses and I just saw the price tag. And everyone has it for about 1600 dollars. So at the moment I must be content with my stock lens and camera. I decided that it is more important at this moment for me to save up for a car and I can get the lens later. I thought I would share some pics with you.

Human Flying

If you could fly would you? I have seen these videos for some time now and I have become really anxious to try it. If you have ever thought base jumping is cool, then this is for you. This is even better. Watch the video below and you will now what I am talking about. I found a website that sells them and the suits are about a thousand dollars. I think I am totally up for it. Enjoy the newest and hottest hobby around.

Bowling

Well I have just finished celebrating my birthday and it was fun. I went bowling with the fam and it was fun. The only thing is that I had the worst scores in my life. I started off wearing my dad's old shoes because they are a little tight for him. We started bowling and my dad started complaining about the rental shoes. He kept saying they don't slide. He went up and exchanged them for another pair and we continued playing. After a couple more fames he said we needed to switch. So I put on the rental and started to bowl. Let me tell you this was the one of the craziest moments in bowling I have ever had in my life, well second. I slipped and fell on my first throw, a little slippery than I expected. Well anyway, I went up and my form was beautiful. I started to approach as the ball took my and brought it back like a pendulum. When the ball got to my side on the return motion I was about to get ready to release the ball. I started to release and when I put left foot flat and would begin to slide I immediately stopped and the ball jerked out of my hand and went somewhere off the side and I almost went down. The shoes just did not slide at all. As hard as I tried as soon as my heal was flat on the ground it was like I had hit a wall because I just stopped moving. This caused me to swing the ball and instead of going down the center the jerk of the stop moved my arm and the ball went into the gutter. I thought maybe I needed to get used to the shoe. Trust me, that did not work and as much as I tried to compensate for the sudden stop I could never get a good enough throw. I felt that if I continued not being careful my arm would fly out of my socket. I went to the front desk this time and went to see if there were any better shoes. The guy running the desk said (mind the language) "They are all pretty shitty. You just got to pick your own poison." I did a switch with another pair. They were better but not by much. Instead of an immediate stop I got a half second slide before the sudden stop. Let me tell you these were the worst designed bowling shoes I have ever seen in my life. You really cannot call them bowling shoes, they are strictly bowling shoe look-a-likes. My dad and I ended up switching shoes every time we went to bowl. I just slipped them off and gave the shoes to my dad and he slipped them on. My dad was like you have to be quick so there was no untying and tying involved. Besides the shoes being so cruddy I had a great time.

Watches

Today there is still a small population of people like me who still wear a watch. I had a professor talk about jewlry for guys and girls and she ask who had the most expensive watch. I heard the funniest response from a student "who still wears a watch today?" I guess it shows that watches are not being worn as much. For me a I have to have watch or I will feel naked and helpless. I always need to know what the time is. An arguement would be use a cell phone, but I don't always have my cell phone on me, and grabbing my cell phone takes longer. Well any way I just wanted to know which hand you wear your watch on. I always get slack for wearing my watch on my right hand. At first this might sound normal, but I am right handed. People tell me all the time that my watch belongs on the left hand. My thought pattern when I first started to wear watches was when I write I can just slightly turn my hand and I can see my watch. This is much faster and more efficiant for me, but I am not sure about other people The second thing is I have been trying to switch the watch to my left hand but it feels weird. I have noticed that the watch grabs onto my arm hair and pulls on it and my left arm is a little more clumsy than my right. Then I feel out of balance with the watch on my left. I don't know, I am probably just a freak. Does anyone else wear their watch on the right hand or the hand they write with.

Family

Well this weekend is my Grandpa's 80th birthday so all the family came down from out of area. So some of my family is staying with us. That means that we have a packed house. Seven people in a three bedroom house and two bathrooms. But besides being a little packed I am actually enjoying this. There is nothing like being with family. I know that when we get my uncle down here we always have fun. It is also nice becuase they live near Reno and they don't come out much.
Tonight when I got home from work they were all here and were getting ready for dinner. I do have to say dinner was the best in a while. We were all sitting around and laughing and telling jokes. It was really nice to have them here and it will be sad to see them go on Sunday. To me there is nothing like the good times you get when you have your extended family over and chatting and having fun. It is like this great feeling I can't describe. In today's society you don't always get to be with your family because you move out and then you see them once in a while. The worst is when they move pretty far away and you hardly ever see them. I almost wish that our society was a little closer when it comes to family because I think family is important. I remeber the last time I was with my dad's brothers were were up at Huntington Lake having a great time. Now here is the funny story. So my dad's brother dave and would walk up to my dad and say hey gregg what are you doing which is really funny because that is my dad's other brother's name, but my dad would respond. Then my dad would start laughing and go did you just call me gregg and my uncle dave would go yes tom I did. Funny thing is that all four of us would do the same thing to each other and we did it all weekend long. We were all laughing and when the weekend was up and we left and that could have been a good thing because we could actually call each other the right name then. Just funny all the good times we have.
